May 05, 2015

Finally. Evernote have introduced something in between Basic / Free and Premium, and the Premium level have unlimited uploads and more.

This is a great move. Some people like me want the Premium features, while others just need some of them. The Plus level is perfect for them.

podcatch.com

Podcast discovery is a problem, unless, or until you get into it. I think sites like this one, and many more is needed to make podcasts more approachable and mainstream.

People need someone to tell them what the good podcasts about X is.

StretchLink 1.0 – BrettTerpstra.com

May 01, 2015

Brett Terpstra:

I’m releasing a little side project called StretchLink today. It’s an easy-to-use tool for expanding shortened links, fixing redirects, and cleaning out referrer junk from Google Analytics and others.

StretchLink runs in the OS X menu bar. You can click the icon to open the main panel from which it can expand and clean links on demand with a single click.

Fantastic!

Losing my religion for equality

April 28, 2015

It’s not the first time I have read this one, and it is excellent.

I’m an atheist, and I have big problems with religion on some key points.

Most of it is related to how people that are not men, white or straight are treated by most religions. But I also have a big problem with how lesser countries like The United States of America treat atheists. But my main problem is how we let religion get mix up with issues related to free speech, health or politics.

  • Religion can’t stop equality

  • Religion can’t stop gay marriage

  • Religion can’t stop stem cell research

  • Religion can’t stop distribution of free condoms

  • Religion can’t stop distribution of free syringes for drug addicts

  • Religion can’t stop proper education, by demanding dumbass subjects like creationism.

I don’t accept any argument that is only rooted in either religion, culture or “we have always done that”. It’s fine, it is a part of the argument, but it can’t be the only thing.

Yes, I know that every religious person isn’t crazy or terrible, or both. But most religions are built on a foundation that makes it too easy to try to stop the progress of society, and I hate to tell you, but everyone that tries to stop progress, will loose.

Welcome, Mac Power Users! — Relay FM

April 28, 2015

Relay.fm:

I’ve listened to Apple podcasts for a long time, and with over 250 episodes published, Mac Power Users has been a constant listen of mine for years.

Mac Power Users isn’t just a podcast; it’s an institution. The guest list is impressive, with greats like Rod Roddenberry, Merlin Mann, Aisha Tyler and David Allen making appearances.

That’s why today’s announcement is so exciting: MPU is joining Relay FM.

Okay, I didn’t see this one coming, but it is really awesome to see Relay.fm doing so well.
