I got my music back. At least most of it

July 30, 2015

It is good to see that Jim got back most of his music. While I acknowledge that Apple are trying to solve something very difficult, I believe that they haven’t done a good enough job on explaining how everything works.

Everyone: remember to back up your stuff.

9to5Mac

July 28, 2015

Interesting piece about why Mike Beasley still jailbreaks his phone.

I have jailbroken phones and iPads in the past, and it isn’t for me. But I do get why some people prefer it.

Apple Prevents App Store Reviews From Users on iOS 9 Betas – MacStories

July 28, 2015

Finally. Better late than never, and this have been a problem since the start. As Mr. Viticci writes:

The problem of permitting app reviews from users on beta software was always a problem, but it risked being a much bigger issue this year because it is the first year that Apple has begun offering public betas of a major iOS release.

Apple & LGBT Equality Act.

July 28, 2015

The Wire:

MEMBERS OF CONGRESS introduced sweeping legislation today that would outlaw discrimination against LGBT people under federal law, and the world’s most valuable company is throwing its support behind the bill.

I think the new Apple is great, and I love how the Tim Cook leadership are over and over again doing the right thing. Yes, LGBT rights is the right thing, and yes doing something about climate change is the right thing.

Apple Music is a nightmare and I’m done with it

July 28, 2015

Oh man! There are some problems with Apple Music. And I get why some people want to ditch it. I personally archived my old iTunes library, and removed almost everything from it, a long time ago. In other words: I have a pre-Apple Music, and a pre-Spotify copy of my iTunes library .

The problems with iTunes and everything related to it is that it is just a mess. Everything from the user interface to old stuff they can’t remove.

I feel bad for Jim, and I get why he left. But I’m willing to give Apple the full three months before I make up my mind.

B&W P5 Wireless headphones added to mega-review

July 28, 2015

My primary head phones since 2010 have been my Bose QC15, for many reasons, mainly, they are comfortable, easy to maintain(change cabel and cushions) and audio quality. But I have been consicering bluetooth headphones for a while; mainly because I’m sick of chaning cables. And the P&W P5 is on top of my list. I love Marco’s insane headphones review page. It is great for when you need to see if something is good or not, and what is good or bad about it

Is Apple Music Anticompetitive

July 28, 2015

I have defended Apple’s 30% cut many times in the past. But this is a area where I think they are wrong. Apple should be able to get a cut, and a cut that is larger than what credit card compaines get, but I still believe that services that are in direct competition with Apple, like Spotify, Kindle, or Dropbox should be able to get more than 70% and they should be able to link to other means of purchase than iAP.
