Pragmatic app pricing – Marco.org

October 14, 2015

This time, I’m not too worried about Pocket Casts and Castro. Well, a little --- that instinct never fully leaves a person. But even after Pocket Casts ships their silence skipper and volume booster shortly on iOS and Castro 2 comes out with a far nicer UI than I could ever imagine, they have their users, I have mine, and we’ll all be fine. We have much bigger problems than each other.

Podcasts are hot right now. Big Money is coming.

How to write a support request – BrettTerpstra.com

October 12, 2015

Most of the software I produce is free, but I try to provide the most helpful answers I can without draining all of my time. With my commercial software, such as Marked 2 and StretchLink, I strive to provide excellent responses to all queries. There are a few things that help me (and any software developer/company) provide that quickly and pleasantly.

This is something everyone should read.

Overcast 2.0

October 12, 2015

Overcast is my podcasting app of choice, and have been since it came out a little bit over a year ago, and version 2.0 came out a few days ago. It introduces streaming, and a new and interesting business model: free with the option to pay, if you want to.

Marco:

The headlining feature of Overcast 2 is streaming. You can still download all episodes as you did before --- I fixed some bugs there, too

Great app, great update. You should check out the Macstories review if you want a in-depth article about more or less every single detail.

The Brooks Review

October 12, 2015

A common refrain when people try to encourage others to buy mobile apps is to say things like: look your Starbucks “latte” cost you $4 and you will finish it inside of 30 minutes (one hopes), but this app is $1.99 and you will use it for months --- if not years. Clearly the better value is the app, not the Starbucks.

Fantastic. Comparing App prices to cups of coffee is a a bad idea, and this article explains exactly why.

When I first started exploring the brave new world of Cocoa and Unix running on a Mac, I had no idea that the code I was writing would be something I relied on 14 years later. Sometimes you scratch an itch that never goes away.

Looks fantastic, and is well worth the $10.

Marked 2.5---a major update to my Markdown preview and writing tools collection---is now available for direct purchase and from the Mac App Store! It’s a free upgrade for all Marked 2 customers, and available at a discounted $11.99 for new customers right now.

Great update, for a great app, I use it almost every day, to preview and export markdown files to PDF.
